That's a paradox I'm still coming to understand. Our ancestors largely lived in a zero-sum world. there was only so much land, so much wealth, so much food...and when it got short, obviously My People deserve it more than Those People. Westward ho! Now, at least in the liberal parts of the world, we believe in a non-zero-sum world; rights and privileges and security andfood and healthcare and education (etc.) for every citizen; there'll always be more to go around. The market can only go up over time! How much of the philosophy of what we consider basic human rights is underwritten by the same virus-like capitalism that would/will turn the Earth to paperclips for an 11% return?
